The European Blackjack Strategy and Rules
The Basic Strategy Chart below is applicable for European blackjack, the rules of which are as follows:
- Six 52 card decks are used (also appropriate for a shoe of 4-8 decks).
- Dealer stands on soft 17.
- Double allowed only on hard 9-11.
- Doubling after split allowed.
- No peek. Player loses all the bets in case the dealer has a Blackjack.

In order to use the basic strategy look at the left vertical column that shows your hand, and search for dealer’s card on the top. A always stands for Ace.
United Kingdom Blackjack. The Basic Strategy
Splitting 4’s, 5’s, and 10’s was allowed only after September 1, 2007. According to this, the basic strategy was different only for playing 4’s that increased the casino edge by 0.003%. Lately, in some Grosvenor casinos all splits and doubling after split were allowed.
Early Surrender
